I spent hours scrolling through TikTok, so you don’t have to

I have a confession. For the past few weeks, I’ve been scrolling through TikTok and Pinterest to find the perfect Galentine’s Day inspo. Between home-made heart-shaped pizzas, charcuterie boards, and pink-dyed Rice Krispie Treats, it’s honestly been hard to narrow down what to make.

Every year, my friends and I get together and throw a Galentine’s Day party, and it has become one of my favourite traditions. Whether you’re in a relationship or not, Galentine’s Day is the perfect chance to celebrate all of the amazing girls in your life.

Now you may ask, what should I make or bring for a Galentine’s Day party? Keep reading and you’ll find out!

If you want to host a Galentine’s Day dinner party, I highly recommend making heart shaped pizzas. With few ingredients and endless possibilities for customization, the pizzas are bound to be a crowd pleaser. Most grocery stores sell pre-made pizza dough, so all you need is a rolling pin (and some culinary talent) to make your pizza into the shape of a heart. Once you’ve rolled out the dough, you can get creative with toppings. For some inspiration, I’ve seen Galentine’s day pizzas with heart shaped pepperoni slices, or cherry designs made out of cherry tomatoes and herbs. Pizza making can also double as a Galentine’s day activity, with everyone getting the chance to make mini individual pizzas together.

For dessert (my favourite part), you can make chocolate covered strawberries or heart shaped sugar cookies. I like to make a combo of dark chocolate and white chocolate strawberries, with the white chocolate dyed pink. Don’t forget to have fun decorating with festive sprinkles! Bulk Barn is always my go-to when looking for fun ones. To make the sugar cookies, all you need is a heart shaped cookie cutter, some sugar cookie dough, and pink and red dyed frosting. You can choose to make and decorate the cookies in advance, or decorate with different frosting colours and sprinkles with your friends. There’s nothing better than getting to eat a cookie you decorated!

If you don’t feel like putting your baking skills to the test, or are simply too busy with midterms, Butter Baker (@butterbakerto) and Loblaws both have a great selection of Valentine’s Day inspired cakes that will add to any celebration. If cookies are more your thing, I highly recommend checking out the Valentine’s Day Mix at Craig’s Cookies (@craigscookies). I received the mix as a Valentine’s Day present last year and they were some of the best cookies I’ve had in Toronto.

From dinner ideas to dessert, I hope you were able to find something to make or buy to celebrate. Happy Galentine’s Day!
