Grab a pumpkin spice latte, or your favourite fall drink, and listen to these songs on your next walk to class

I’m just going to be honest, the start of fall for me is traditionally marked by the return of Trader Joe’s pumpkin spice ice cream. But since Trader Joe’s has yet to open a location in Canada, I’m here to bring you the perfect fall playlist to celebrate the start of the season. Whether you’re walking to class or enjoying the changing leaves from the comfort of your bedroom, these songs are bound to put you in the fall spirit, just in time for Halloween.
- “October” by HAPPY LANDING
Kick off the start of the month with this 2022 release by HAPPY LANDING. Lines such as, “Well, I’m hoping October won’t bring no rain” prove to be far too relatable as the summer season comes to an end. - “Pumpkin” by The Regrettes
While this song doesn’t really have anything to do with pumpkins, the perfect fall playlist would not be complete without a song mentioning one of the most quintessential symbols of Halloween. The catchy chorus of “Pumpkin” is bound to get you ready for the start of the season. - “Apple Cider” by beabadoobee
Since apple cider is arguably my favourite fall drink, the Indie track of the same name might be my favourite seasonal song discovery. To truly get the full experience, make sure to grab a cup of hot apple cider the next time you’re at a campus Second Cup. I doubt you’ll be disappointed. - “Campus” by Vampire Weekend
When speed walking through Queens Park on my way to class, this is my favourite song to listen to. The lines, “I pull my shirt on, walk out the door; Drag my feet along the floor” start to sound a bit more motivating when going to leave my apartment on a cold fall morning. - “October Skies” by Mumford & Sons
I don’t know if it’s just me, but the start of fall always seems to bring the best sunsets to Toronto. The orange-hued skies serve as the perfect backdrop for the changing leaves. While I know this isn’t technically a song about sunsets, the line, “I’m blinded by the lights of October skies” always reminds me of the colourful skies and beauties of the season.
Now, the perfect fall playlist would not be complete without honourable mentions. As fall starts to come to an end, I recommend checking out “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan and “November Rain” by Guns N’ Roses. Both will be there to get you ready for the next seasonal transition.
