Songs for the upcoming winter season
Hala Marouf, Staff Writer
As another hectic year comes to a close, the combined stress of the numbing cold, scarce daylight, and end of the semester can all overshadow the sweetness of winter. Nevertheless, the restful stillness of the undisturbed blankets of snow and the long quiet nights offer a sense of peace like no other. Curated with that sense of peace in mind and as an offering of hope for the holidays, I hope this playlist feels like a change of pace from the cheesy (but catchy!) Christmas genre.
- “Coffee & TV” – Blur
“So give me coffee & TV, easily,
I’ve seen so much, I’m going blind,
And I’m brain-dead virtually”
- “Wintering” – the 1975
“It’s Christmas so this gonna be a nightmare,
I just came for the stuffing, not to argue about nothing,
But mark my words, I’ll be home on the 23rd,
Yeah, I drive up on the 23rd”
- “Violet” – Daniel Caesar
“Don’t cut your journey short,
Not anymore, you beautiful boy.
Just run, don’t hit the floor,
Not anymore, you brilliant boy.”
- “Bitter Sweet Symphony” – The Verve
“You know I can change, I can change
But I’m here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I’m a million different people
From one day to the next
I can’t change my mold”
