The newly named Commuter Life Committee (CLC), formerly known as the Day Student Advisory Commission (DSAC) hosted its annual Commuter Frosh event on August 21st, 2010. Despite the rain and poor conditions, Commuter life Commissioner Fran Turco and Commuter Life Officer Frank Fisico were able to host a successful event of approximately 70 Frosh. A wide variety of games and activities, including tours, speeches, campus tours and a scavenger hunt, allowed first year students to connect, interact and bond with each other current students of St. Michael’s College. First years were introduced to important institions on campus such as SMCSU, The MIKE, UTICA and chaplaincy to best prepare them for the coming year.

In addition to this kick-off event, The Commuter Life Committee hosts many events throughout the year such as CLC Barbeque, Christmas Party, and St. Paddy’s Day party as well as many more.

The purpose of these events is to engage commuter students to come out and meet their fellow students. In the process CL ensures that commuter students get the full experience of being a student here at St. Mike’s and feel more connected with their college community.

As the first few weeks of university can be difficult (even more so for commuter students) we, as the senior executive of the MIKE and commuters ourselves, highly encourage all students, but especially those from off-campus, to get involved with CL activities.
